Arches and simple lines dominate the classic architecture of this home with corbels, banding, and hipped roofs providing visual excitement. Inside, a thoughtful plan arranges social areas and guest rooms to the left and the master suite and study to the right. Private pockets of gathering areas are created by the gentle movement of the home's rear elevation, while a different perspective is experienced from the second floor deck. Designed to celebrate outdoor living and the views from inside, the rear elevation of this home is punctuated heavily by windows and sliding glass doors. These large openings provide wide open views of the home's surroundings and serving to bring the outside in. Designed for entertaining, an open floor plan between living and leisure room allows a wet bar to serve as the staging area for refreshments and hors d'oeuvres. Boundaries between these spaces are subtly defined by columns and changing ceilings. Natural light streams into the leisure room through zero-corner sliding glass doors and a second story band of vertical windows, opening up this room to the outdoors. This drama is heightened by a 22 foot coffered ceiling. A second floor loft overlooks the leisure room, and provides a private retreat for the fourth bedroom. Ceilings are elevated to an art form with dramatic treatments like trays and coffers taking on geometric shapes-a circle in the breakfast nook, an octagon in the master sitting area, and crisp coffers formed by diagonal beams in the leisure room. Cove and recessed lighting enhance the effect.
